The other day I stopped at the local Goodwill to do some shopping for my Thrifty Thursday posts in the hopes of finding something that really needs to redo. I took my time looking around the store searching for the perfect thing to write about this week. As I was wandering around the store, I ran across not a little project...but one that is much bigger than I had initially planned! So in an effort to at least do a bit of a teaser, I thought I would show you my before pictures and share just a bit on what my plans are. As I was wandering around my local Goodwill, I saw two older gentlemen standing in front of a headboard and foot board of a queen sized bed. They were looking at every aspect of this bed. One of them was on their phones sharing the details of this bed with the person on the other end and the other one was on the Internet searching for something. They instantly caught my eye because they were making a bit of a fuss over this piece of furniture. I watched intently to see their next move...and surprisingly enough, they walked away from the bed. As soon as they did, I ran over grabbed the price tag and raced up-front to pay. Well I didn't exactly race, but I hurried my way up to the cash register!! I didn't look back, nor did I wait for them to realize I had grabbed the tag to buy this bed right out from underneath them! But it's "Thrifting 101" all is fair game if you walk away!! And these guys WALKED AWAY!! Only for a second I am sure before they realized the bed was SOLD...to ME! They never even knew what happened! I was very stealth-like about the whole thing!
Now here is what is even better...I have no need for a queen sized bed! I had a hoarder moment and got excited because it was only $50.00! YES I SAID $50.00!!! While I have no need for this bed, I bought it anyway, because what I did have was an inspiration to create. I have big plans for this piece of furniture that those two gentleman should have bought...just wait until I am done. And more than likely I will put this beautiful piece of furniture up for sale because I don't have anywhere else to use it. What I do know for sure is that bed was meant to be mine to redo for my readers, and it WILL be awesome when I am done!! So for now I am going to share with you my teaser pictures of the befores. And come Monday I will hopefully have it finished to show you the afters! I see some burlap, some furniture nails, maybe a stencil...just wait and see! Mr. Handy is going to help me out on this project and still thinks I am insane for buying a bed that we don't even need. But he's learned to live my hair brained ideas and trusts me enough to know that I have a vision. His patience will come in the execution of the project!!
My question to you is would you have bought this too??
There is more to come early next week!! Looking forward to my big reveal!!
Until next time!

I can't wait to see what you do with it. Thanks for coming over and strutting your stuff!

I'm your latest follower, visiting today from Sincerely Paula's No Rules Weekend Blog Party.
SCORE! Don't keep us waiting too long to show off what you do with it, K? I can't wait!!!
For my mother-in-law's birthday I grabbed a queen headboard off the side of the road... we made it into a sweet bench that she adores. Made the whole family (cousins too!) pound nails, sand and paint so it was loving made by all 10 of us! I absolutely am on the edge of my repurposed headboard bench to see what YOU do! xoxo jules
